Current Thoughts: Why do people pay to use treadmills?
I went to a coffee shop early in the morning a couple weeks back that happened to be across from a gym. I could see inside and of the 20-30 or so people in the gym, 90% of them were walking on a treadmill, watching a screen. I am completely perplexed that people pay money to sit/stand on a machine while watching a screen after or before sitting and staring at a screen and engaging with a machine all day. I’m pro walking, just not on a treadmill.
Walking is great. We should all probably do a whole lot more of it. And if you’re going to do it, I believe the benefits of doing it outside where you get sunlight, fresh air, and some temperature exposure are around a million times better than doing it on a treadmill. Find a group of people to do it with and add in a weighted back pack and now the benefits are a billion times better.
Less machines and less screens. More being outside, more being around other, more resilience. Treadmills are for hanging clothes on anyways.
Things I Like: Chat GPT For Recipes

I’ve recently been figuring out ways to make healthy versions of treats my kids (and I) like to eat. What do I mean by healthy? Essentially I want to eliminate or greatly reduce sugar, no preservatives or dyes and also see if I can find a way to add in some protein. ChatGPT has been a game changer for this. A simple prompt like “What’s a good healthy pancake recipe? I want to want almond flour, monk fruit for a sweetener, and to add in some protein powder.” will shoot out a simple recipe to follow. My favorite one thus far has been what I call “Protein Cups”. It’s essentially peanut butter cups without any sugar and added in protein. I’m still perfecting the recipe. Stay tuned for when I get it ready.
