Is Not Exercising a Mental Illness?
I looked up the definition of mental illness. Here it is:
Significant changes in thinking, emotion and/or behavior. Distress and/or problems functioning in social, work or family activities.
Our bodies function best when we are physically healthy and we clearly see connections between physical well being and mental well being. Physical health requires consistent exercise and healthy food choices, ie behaviors. If we had a friend who stopped breathing, drinking liquids, eating food, sleeping, or engaging socially, we would worry about them, encourage them to speak with someone because they seemed to be dealing with some mental illness.
Should we also see someone who stopped exercising as dealing with a mental illness?
